Balearics

The Balearics have been a firm favourite summer destination from the early days of package holidays. Today this stays the same. The Islands of Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza have developed over the years to differentiate themselves slightly. Majorca, being the biggest attracts all, Ibiza is known for its clubbing scene and Menorca is more popular with young families and people not familiar with travelling, perhaps looking for a safe option to summer sun.

With great sunshine records in the summer, fantastic beaches, excellent food and hospitality the islands offer a good choice for a holiday. Each island however does offer resorts for all tastes; Ibiza is a great choice for families and couples both young and old. Majorca has a variety of resorts catering for the young, the old, families and couples. Golf has become a major lifestyle over the last few years; there are plenty of golf courses in the Balearics.

Menorca

This island is much quieter and more relaxing than any other Balearic Island. If you are looking for a quiet holiday then Menorca is the place. The beaches will appeal to anyone who enjoys all water sports including snorkelling, windsurfing and boating. Situated at Son Parc to the north of the island is a 9-hole golf course.

Cala'n Forcat

Cala'n Forcat is the liveliest of all the resorts in Menorca. The resort has many bars, restaurants and shops. There are three small beaches and some require you to climb steps. For those who like a change from the beach there is a water park situated on the main road. There is also a diving centre at the North Cove that offers tuition for all levels of experience. A visit to the former capital of Cuidadela is an excellent opportunity to experience traditional Spanish culture.

Es Castell

Es Castell is situated at the Port of Mahon. You will notice the vast array of architecture that greatly reflects the history of the area. The name Es Castell means ‘the castle’ and is derived from being close to the Fort of San Felip. The nightlife is mainly situated at the coves of Cala Fons and Cala Corb.

Monte Toro

Monte Toro - the highest point on the island, which offers an excellent excursion with the opportunity to look around the ancient monastery. The nearby resort of S'Algar is home to one of the best Mediterranean diving centres, which cater for all abilities. If your ideal holiday includes peace, fantastic beaches and a family atmosphere - Menorca is the perfect choice.

Punta Prima

Punta Prima is situated on the south coast of the island and boasts a bay of soft golden sand. The resort is well established offering a variety of bars, restaurants and shops.

S'Algar

S'Algar is situated on the South East Coast of the island and is a man-made resort with a small beach. Cal Alcaufar is the closest natural beach - a 15-minute walk away. S'Algar offers a good choice of bars and restaurants, while local hotels provide other entertainment. If you want to try diving S'Algar is home to a Top Diving Centre. Also a short drive from S’Algar is the Capital Mahon, a recommended place to visit.

Santo Tomas

Santo Tomas is a small and relaxing resort, situated on the south coast of the island. The resort’s facilities include tennis, numerous shops and good restaurants. The hotels in the area provide most of the evening entertainment offering bars and discos. This location is ideal for couples and families who are looking for a beach holiday in quieter surroundings.

Majorca

Unarguably Majorca remains one of the most popular Spanish destinations. The largest of the Balearic Islands, Majorca caters for everyone. The island successfully combines the lively action packed Meccas of the southwest with the more quiet scenic relaxed family atmospheres on other parts of the island.

Everything you could want from sandy beaches, water sports, an array of shops, cafes and restaurants, nightclubs and bars, harbours, boutiques and fantastic scenery - Majorca has it all.

Alcudia

Alcudia has over 10km of white sandy beaches, you can either spend the day relaxing in the sun or partake in some more energetic water activities offered along the coastline. To experience some traditional Majorcan culture, take a day trip and visit the Old Town of Alcudia. For evening entertainment there is a wide array of bars, discos and restaurants to suit all. Ideal for couples and families.

C'an Picafort

C’an Picafort has over 10km of white sandy beaches, you can spend the day relaxing in the sun or partake in some more energetic water activities offered along the coastline. To experience some traditional Majorcan culture, a day trip is recommended to visit the Old Town of Alcudia. For evening entertainment there is an array of bars, discos and restaurants. Again this resort caters for all ages.

Cala D'Or

Cala D’Or is excellent if you want to sample the culture of the area. Beautifully nestled amongst small coves and sandy beaches, it is a picturesque resort offering galleries, craft shops, local boutiques as well as more energetic activities of tennis, windsurfing and cycling. For evening entertainment you can visit one of the many bars and restaurants. An ideal choice for families and couples.

Cala Millor

Cala Millor is an exciting and modern resort that appeals to everyone. Relax on 2km of soft sandy beaches; enjoy one of the many water sports offered or alternatively play golf on one of two nearby golf courses. A visit to the weekly market in Son Servera is ideal all for your holiday gifts and souvenirs. Ideal for all ages and tastes.

Cala Vinas

Cala Vinas is one of the smaller resorts on the Southwest of the island. By day you can relax on one of the fine sandy beaches or play a round of Golf on the well-known 18-hole golf course. And by night you can head to the resort centre where there is a selection of shops, restaurants and bars, alternatively Magaluf’s nightlife is only 2km away. This resort is well suited for families and the young alike.

Calas de Mallorca

Calas de Mallorca is one of the quieter, relaxed resorts on the island. Is is a well developed self-contained resort on the east coast of the island. It offers a variety of daytime activities including water-sports, tennis, golf and pedelos. There is also a selection of bars and restaurants for evening entertainment. An ideal base for couples and families with small children.

Palma Nova and Magaluf

Palma Nova and Magaluf offer the ultimate 'fun in the sun' for everyone. As these resorts have developed, Torrenova has been embraced within their boundaries. Being the liveliest resorts on the island, they are very popular with the younger holidaymakers, ultimately in the high season by day they enjoy the variety of water sports, shops, bars, and cafes and by night the fun and hectic atmosphere offered during the dark hours. During May, June and at the end of the season it is an excellent choice for a relaxing family holiday.

Ibiza

Nightlife and Clubbing have made Ibiza famous over the past few years. In the summer months it becomes home to thousands of young people partying all day and night. Ibiza does however have another side to it, which sadly seems to be forgotten. The natural beauty of the second largest of the Balearics, offers white sandy beaches, turquoise beach coves and picturesque whitewashed villages located in the mountains.

So aside from the lively holiday spots of Ibiza Town and San Antonio, the more quiet relaxed resorts of Es Cana and Santa Eulalia offer some excellent destination for family or quieter holidays. These resorts offer a more traditional side to Ibiza that is often overlooked.

Cala Llonga

One of the key features of Cala Llonga is the gently shelving beach. This makes the resort a perfect choice for families to relax and enjoy their holiday whilst feeling at ease for their children to play along the wide beach. The resort is modern and offers a good selection of cafes and restaurants to suit all the family.

Es Cana

Es Cana is the ideal resort for attracting all families, couples and groups of friends. It offers a great mix for a relaxed holiday whilst still contributing late night entertainment for those who enjoy it. The daytime can be spent on and around the beach, taking part in the variety of water sports on offer or just to relax with a stroll around the harbour. Some smaller less crowded beaches can be reached by taking a walk along one of the many coastal paths, taking in the scenery as you go. The evening can be spent in one of the many restaurants or few bars especially after a long hard day sunbathing. One of the attractions of Es Cana is the ‘Hippy’ Market held during the week; it is a great place to pick up some local crafts at bargain prices.

Playa d'en Bossa

Just 10 minutes from the airport and home to the island's longest Blue Flag Beach, Playa den Bossa attracts holiday makers seeking fun in the sun, on a slightly lesser scale than in ‘San An’. The beach is magnificent offering a vast array of water sports to keep you amused for as long or as little as you want. The resort is a favourite with families as the island's water park the ‘Aguamar’ is situated just behind the resort. Ibiza town is 4 kilometres away for those who want to sample the bright lights and busy atmosphere of an evening on the town.

San Antonio Bay

‘San An’ is the tourist capital of Ibiza. In the summer months DJs from around the world flock to San Antonio and set up residency for the entire season. By day the beaches are jam packed with sun worshippers relaxing and taking in the atmosphere, wandering around the marina or trying out the huge selection of water sports on offer. By night the town comes alive. The ‘West End’ offers all types of music and special guests keeping the bars and clubs buzzing to the daylight hours. In low season the resort attracts all ages both families and couples.

Santa Eulalia

Far from the noise and activity of San Antonio, although Santa Eulalia is the second largest resort on the island they are worlds apart. The resort is sophisticated and upmarket, but equally relaxed and charming. Restaurants, shops and street cafes line the beaches, with the option to wander around or just relax and watch the world go by. The beaches offer a good selection of water sports to sample. Santa Eulalia attracts many couples enjoying the relaxed and low-key feel of the area.
